Biography: Cris Ruiz is an Australian Artist who is currently living in Western Australia. Born in Queensland, he graduated as
a Bachelor of Sculpture / College of Fine Arts in1978.
In the last twenty years Cris concentrated his work on painting and has taken partin several exhibitions locally and internationally.
During the last eight years, he has initiated and been actively engaged in aproject to introduce his visual art and to
the world. He has arranged a touring exhibition of his artworks throughout Australia and the USA.
When Cris set out to raise histopic, he produces a fabric of logical relationships in which he tries to explain and
simplifies them through relying on the background (particularity of environment)...venue, time, accidental marks,
attending signs, faces, squares and geometrical shapes. The code of these works can be touched in an attempt to
realise the compositional nature and its constructional focus.
This focus in the first place is a symbolic activity but it cannot separate in its configurational construction from
the channels of organising the natural things in which it tries to imitate there to(space,earth). This estrangement
in the linkage between the painting subject and nature has enabled the artist to make a sign depending on a creative capability in establishing a(Style). This is a substantial point, as organising some symbolic focuses leads to two kinds of linkages. The first linkage is an arbitrary one which doesn’t base on sayings.
These were brought by most of the works in the same (time and venue) in which Cris has came into view. But the
second on sets a style through these linkages a special and sole (language) which can be readable and decidable.
Thus, the works of this artist and his stylistic establishments can be classified in the second item of this dual purpose. The signs are not realised in these works but in the field of the sole system which has formed fromCrisan example for defining his sayings.
From the perception, the signifier which is connected to the actual details has turned into a particular signifierfor
painting. So, the man and environment have become outsidet these details, and they form a long with the colours
and method of demonstration ( the Artist’s language) in which he became unrivalled individually among his artists
mates. By the meaning, Cris didn’t exchange with the other systems of his generation of painters, but he language
which he had formulated is capable to say a lot of things grounding on a state of subject awareness and expressing it and produces its signifier through two methods.
The first one his knowledge of appointments and particular methods of the technical performance, while the
second, method is his contemplative and subjective experiment. From these tow points, his works proceeded to
establish something significant inside the contemporary Australian painting.
