Biography: Born and raised in Leuven, a little Belgian town, Wouter Steel started his education at the ST Lucas highschool in Brussels, later on the move in Antwerp, where he attended classes at the Royal Academy, where he followed 4 years of painting. Soon, it become clear that oil is his favourite medium.
At the Academy, Wouter's fascination for the female body started to take shape. Rather than focusing on the classic models and poses provided by the Academy, Wouter started looking for his own models and for a more contemporary way to depict them. Combining technical skills with strong and sensual images, he soon found his own authentic style and approach. Not a vulgar and pornographic, but a more sensual and esthetic view towards his models shaped his own unique vision.
Wouter Steel lives and works in Antwerp.
