Biography: Although Texas born, Judith Hanson calls herself a California “native” having been a resident for more than 40 years. She now resides in Danville, California, with her husband, Kenneth, a general contractor.
While spending the first part of her life in the business world, music had always held first place as her artistic interest, and she is an accomplished pianist and organist. Music is still a major love, but it has taken a second place for the last 25 years to her love of painting.
Judith combines a great deal of experimenting (“trial and error”) with absorbing all she can from workshops with well-known artists. She and her husband have traveled extensively and she enjoys painting scenes from their travels, as well as still life and California landscapes. She constantly tries to make her paintings reach out to the viewer through the use of “delicious” colors and a style that’s somewhere between realism and impressionism. She is versatile in various media and does paintings both on canvas and under glass.
Judith’s paintings now hang in collections in the United States, Europe and the Orient and have earned awards in Bay Area art shows.
