Biography: 1949: Born in Prague
1964 - 1968: Studied Furniture Design at the School for Arts and Crafts in Prague
1968:Moved to Germany
1969 : Studied Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Hamburg – 1974 Graduation
1973 : Studied Philosophy at Technical University in Stuttgart
1977 - 1979: Scientific assistant at the Institute for Industrial Design at the University of Hannover
1979 : Doctorate Degree in architecture at the Technical University of Delft
1979 - 1983: Lecturer in design-theory at the University of Essen
1983 : Moved to Amsterdam and opened architecture & design studio
1990 - 1998: Appointed as Professor Architecture at the Prague Academy of Applied Arts; Appointed Court Architect in Prague, Czech Republic by President Václav Havel
1998 : Appointed as Professor of Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna
2005 : Appointed as dean at Architecture department at the Technical University of Liberec
Awards
1983: Honourable mention for the “German Architecture Prize” for design of Sipkova house, Hamburg
1989 : Awarded the Dutch “Kho Liang Ie Prize” for design
1991 : Awarded “La Croix Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et Lettres” by the French government
1993 : Awarded the “Prins Bernhard Fonds Prize” for Architecture and Applied Arts
2005 : Awarded “Talent De L´Originalite” - Le Sommet du Luxe et de la Creation
