Biography: Arlene Wright-Correll, award winning artist, avid gardner, and free lance writer, at the age of 68, decided to pick up her paint brushes again after 54 years of work in the International real estate market, and paint, in mostly watercolors, the flowers, herbs and fruits that grow at Home Farm Herbery.Though she uses all mediums, she likes to use the Gouache paints, which are a heavy, opaque watercolor paint, sometimes called body color, producing a less wet-appearing and more strongly colored picture than ordinary watercolor.
She keeps experimenting in other mediums and enjoys the complexity of working with oil and soft pastels and Scratchboard art. Ever expanding her art world she experiments in stained glass, fused & slumped glass and even china and porcelain painting.
Her wry humor is very evident in her 3-D Art and in her "Just Plain Folks" Series.
Ms. Wright-Correll's work all come with an EBSQ Certificate of Authenticity.
Occasionally, she will paint something from her world travels. Especially, of Scotland, Ireland, or the Mediterranean. She is fond of those old memories. Her original paintings are sold quite quickly and one can always try and pick up whatever current one she is working on.
For those who want to make a modest investment in her art she makes available signed limited edition prints, open prints, post cards and note cards of her art.
Arlene Wright-Correll is a member of KAHT (Kentucky Arts Heritage Trail), an EBSQ Certified Artist, a nominated member of the Women's Museum of Art in Washington, DC, the creator and writer of Who's Who in KY Arts & Crafts and is also the founder and a charter and certified member of the South Central KY Arts & Crafts Guild.
Arlene Wright-Correll is one of the 6 KY artists, state-wide, chosen to work on a 6 month project titled, "Journey Jots".
The amazing thing about this "young" artist is that as a mother of 5 & the grandmother of 8, she is also a cancer and stroke survivor who is able to strive forward each and everyday to welcome the beauty of this small planet. Her favorite motto is a quote by Ruth Smelter.,
"You have not lived a perfect day, even though you have earned your money, unless you have done something for someone who cannot repay you."
