( Argentina )

Summer series I

Summer series IV

Artist: Mercedes Lasarte ( Argentina ) -

Main Category: Painting

Biography: Argentine born, Ms. Lasarte earned her bachelor's degree in education. Her minor field of study and long time interest was the fine arts, particularly drawing, painting and sculpture.

She moved to Los Angeles in the 1970s where she attended UCLA and Otis Parsons Art School. While at these schools she continued to polish her skills as a painter and sculptor, absorbing the techniques of the masters. These disciplines granted her the foundation on which to build.

An extensive traveler, she has had the opportunity to study history's masters firsthand in the world's greatest art museums. Her acceptance has also provided the good fortune to see important private collections in the company of their owners.

Her paintings reflect elements of her favorite post-impressionist artists through her own unique perspective. As her style defines form and space with strong, bright colors, it produces uniquely serious pieces which are both pleasing and decorative in a style described by some as "fauve moderne".

Mercedes Lasarte's works are in collections on four continents.
