Biography: Sid Howard was one of Nova Scotia's most popular folk artists, and his work has been widely collected. He showed an interest in carving after 1945, although many of his early works were destroyed in a fire in the late 1960's. Along with his smaller carvings of fish and various animals, he eventually undertook the carving of life-size figures, including political figures and an RCMP officer. He has been featured on the television series, "On the Road Again" and was also featured in the National Film Board documentary, "Folk Art Found Me". His work also appeared in the Canadian Folk Art Calendar for 1996.
