Biography: Anna Waligorska was born on 26 February, 1979, in Bydgoszcz. She completed the State College of Art in her hometown. In the years 1999-2000 she studied painting at the University of Zielona Gora at the Institute of Fine Arts. From 2000 to 2005 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in Professor Hugon Lasecki’s studio and later under Professor Maciej Swieszewski’s direction. In May 2005 she was granted her degree in painting from Professor Maciej Swieszewski’s art studio, her annex in wall painting (in Oncology Hospital in Gdansk) and in stained glass under professor Andrzej Dyakowski’s direction. In 2003 she was an assistant and a trainee of Professor Andrzej Markowicz in the scenography studio for full time students and the artistic design studio for extramural students.

She says about her painting: “what interests me most is the form of presentation, in which the main element is the figure itself and the way it changes giving dynamics to the arrangement.” Apart from painting she also does wall painting, stained glass, printmaking and scenography.

Her characteristic works have been presented in the exhibitions in Poland, Germany and Italy. Her works are unreal realism, which attracts with its unusual form, hidden message and ideal workmanship. It is like dreams transferred onto canvas. Colourful, idyllic dreams.

Anna Waligorska is a winner of many awards:
- The award granted by the Mayor of Gdansk for Young Artists in the field of culture in 2006,
- the first prize in the competition “Artystyczna podróż Hestii” (Hestia’s Artistic Journey), which was a month-long scholarship in New York in 2004,
- the first prize in the field of painting in the 5th International Festival of Theatre and Visual Arts ZDARZENIA,
- the first prize in the competition “Autoportret” (Self-portrait), organized by the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola,
- the second award in the drawing competition “North-South” (North-South) organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk,
- together with other students from Professor M. Swieszewski’s studio, who carried out a wall painting project in the Child Oncology Hospital of the Medical University in Gdansk (2004-2005), received the awards granted by:
- the Rector of Medical University of Gdansk,
- the Minister of Culture,
- the Mayor of Gdansk.

The artist’s works can be found in private collection in Poland, Germany, Italy and New York.
