Biography: Charles was born 1948 in Baltimore, USA. He graduated from Graphic Art, English Literature and Art Education. Charles first solo exhibition was held in Baltimore in 1983 at the prestigious "Meyerhoff Symphony Hall". Although he has mostly lived in Baltimore, Charles has also travelled and lived in other cities and countries; in Seattle, New York, Chicago and San Francisco in the United States, and overseas in Kenya, Madagascar, Italy and in Sweden.
The number of collectors and admirers of Charles' art is constantly growing. In North America his art is well represented across the continent; for example in Baltimore, Washington, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Savannah and Edmonton-Canada.
In Sweden Charles has had a tremendous success since his premiere exhibition in November 1998 in Gothenburg – six highly appreciated and in the Swedish media well publicised solo exhibitions.
Through a unique way of blending elements of three of the dominant movements of last century, cubism, impressionism and abstract expressionism, Charles brings these schools together into a "holy trinity". In this creative process his work undergoes a transformation from being totally abstract to becoming very clear and concrete in nature. One may therefore perhaps better refer to his art as "concrete expressionism". Viewing his work from this perspective Charles coincides with the finest of contemporary artists in his constant quest to move fine art forward into new untouched territories.
