Biography: Since graduating in Fine Art from Falmouth College of Art in 2005 I have been working full time in my Gloucestershire studio on a wide variety of personal projects and international commissions.

Drawing inspiration from visits to the Swiss Alps and a three month study scholarship to the Romanian city of Iasi, my work explores the tensions between and within opposing rural and urban environments.

By developing methods of visually representing my emotional response to these places and combining this with sketches and photographs made on location, I have produced a series of paintings which embody both the beauty and sometimes the bleakness of these locations.

Working with paint, usually oils or acrylics, as a base for my images, I rule nothing out as a means to achieve the finish I have in mind. Over time I have developed a language of intense marks and patterns which form interacting layers from which the image gradually emerges. To date, I have also employed materials such as mosaic, gold leaf, glitter and even hair bobbles in the making of my work and I see the possibilities as endless.

Rich reds, oranges and golds weave together, conjuring warm, ethereal auras, whilst the dark monochrome of my urban cityscapes reflects these often ominous, impersonal spaces.
