Biography: Biography:
Born in 1949, Yvon Lemieux began painting at the age of 17. He is a self-taught artist having gained much of his skill and experience through art related jobs, including window dressing and illustration. It was not until later in life that he became a full-time artist. In 1988 he opened his own painting school where he took his learned skills and passed them on to others.
Yvon paints what he sees with much of the subject matter pertaining to his home province of Quebec. He takes the time to get to know his subjects, which include people, buildings, animals, countryside, thus allowing him to paint with knowledge as well as skill. His style is unique unto itself, often appearing as realism on the verge of impressionism.
