Biography: Biography:
Terry was born in Montreal in 1935. He is a self-taught artist with no formal art education but through the success and popularity of his works he demonstrates that art is often a natural talent. His many accomplishments and many achievements in art also support this idea. He was invited to participate in an exhibition at the Canadian Embassy in Washington. He had a three day show at the Continental Gallery in Montreal sell out, in fact people lined up for three days waiting for it’s opening. Terry was also invited to paint the Heritage Classic Hockey Game and the Quebec Referendum Rally, an accomplishment no other artist has on their resume, as well as many NHL Hockey teams. Tomalty paints landscapes, cityscapes, florals and still life but is best known for his portrayals of the game of hockey. With brush and paint he has the ability to make these still figures almost seem as if they are moving on canvas. It is hard to peg him down to a specific style. He has the style of an Impressionist painter but the detailing of a Realist. It is undeniable that Tomalty is an artist of his own true nature.
