After serving in the military during WWII, Jean E. Nerfin worked in London and Paris. It was here that he was able to absorb the sophisticated art scene of the 1940s. He then spent two years travelling in Africa. In 1951, he opened his own commercial design firm in New York. Where he worked on window displays for large department stores. During this time, he also exhibited his personal paintings at the Greenwich Village Art Show. In 1975, he was finally able to dedicate himself full time to his craft and opened a studio in Santa Barbara, California. Nerfin, however, does continue to collaborate on magazine covers and private commissions.
