Biography: John Bageris was born in Fremont, Ohio in 1924 and spent most of his childhood in Greece. He received his B.F.A and subsequently his M.F.A from the Art Institute of Chicago. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with Boris Anisfeld. He has most recently resided in New York City. In 1953 he was awarded a Fulbright traveling Fellowship during that time he studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich, Germany. John Bageris was an instructor at the Brooklyn Museum School and the School of Visual Arts. In 1972 he moved to Boston to teach at the Institute of Boston and the DeCordova Museum.
Bageris has had his works exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Detroit Institute of Art, Werbe Gallery in Detroit, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institute, The Museum of Modern Art, Roko Gallery, The Souza Gallery and the Osbourne Gallery all in New York City.
