Biography: Born in Honolulu Hawaii in 1955, Claudette McDermott moved early to California with her family. One of three daughters, Claudette was the only one to become infatuated with Art. Moving back to Hawaii in her young adult years she fell in love with a beautiful watercolor in a gallery on Waikiki. The artist was Salvador Dali and the painting though not much then was not within her reach then but the painting did inspire the young artist to recapture her feelings and ideas on to canvas in a somewhat similar mindset.
Attempts at art school did not work out as she felt a captive, and unable to express any creativity when the teachers kept trying to keep her in check and on task to their ideals of art. Teaching herself, through practice and books and wondering around art galleries when ever she had a chance she has now gained a style all her own.
An avid online surfer in art websites, Claudette is active and participates in Art Groups, Blogs and Critiques. Shows, Events and Demonstrations have been in local venues in California for the past 2 years. Slowly gaining in recognition she feels at home with artists in her community, meeting regularly for coffee on Friday mornings, workshops and promoting herself and fellow artists when she has a chance.
Claudette is now working on a few Art Books and New Paintings to increase her inventory in Oils, Acrylic and Mixed Media along with experimenting in Art Glass. Currently working as a Director on an Online Art site handling reviews of Galleries, Artists, and Events. Promoting ARTists work from Poetry On Canvas Website and submitting to various venues. Exhibiting in San Ramon in April of 2009.
