Biography: Yek considers himself the "Barry White of post-conceptual painting". His work has been described as "the visual equivalent of mood music. Smooth, cool, and meant to seduce you." Other reviewers say Yek's paintings "absolutely do evoke an architecture of the sky."
Originally from Singapore, Yek studied in Australia before moving to the US. He received his BFA in Austin, Texas and his Masters in Fine Arts at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Over the last year he has had exhibitions in Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Columbus and Florida and is gaining the attention of collectors and critics all over. Dave Hickey named Yek in his Top Ten of the Nineties list in the December issue of ArtForum. This is the artist's first solo exhibition in Columbus and his second exhibition in the gallery.
