Artist: Eldred Karker ( United States ) -

Biography: Like many other artists Eldred didn't get started until the late 1960'5. While living in Izmir, Turkey she was fortunate enough to make friends with a former art teacher who had taught at the School of Art in Boston, Massachusetts and in the School of Art at the University of Texas. She gave Eldred and one other student private lessons for most of the two years Eldred lived there. After those years in Turkey, she came back to live din Conyers, Georgia.

When back in Georgia she found a wonderful teacher named Joe E. Brown. She also studied under Ouida Cannaday, who was a well known artist in Atlanta. Eldred has taken many workshops and local lessons over the years and continues to do so.

Not being one to keep things to herself, Eldred has also taught several classes in the local gallery, but the work that she values most is the art lessons in a school for boys. She has taught lessons in multiple media.

She works in oils but has branched out into other media in the last few years. Presently she has paintings in South Lake Art League Gallery and Sutton's Gallery in Clermont, Florida. She also has paintings in a gallery in Boston; in Logan airport (Boston) and a selection in a jewelry store in Citrus County, Florida. She participates in most of the local art shows. Eldred has received many awards and ribbons along the way.

Now Eldred has decided to try her wings on the internet.
From an accumulation of many paintings --and though she feels that each one of them is a part of herself and really doesn't care to sell them --she has considered now that she is 80 years old it is time that she share them with the rest of the world.

She has a particular style of her own and loves color, so most of her work is boldly done --reflecting that love and appreciation for color.
