Presently the main focus of freitas cruz's research revolves around the effect of the rain on the overall surroundings. Inevitably the first works to come out of this series were more representational than he would normally allow them to be but as time passes and the artist acquires a greater familarity with the intensity of the island he is slowly returning to abstraction and to capturing and portraying the unseen dimensions of these magnificent landscapes.
