2009 National Juried Exhibition:
First Street Gallery is pleased to announce the 2009 National Juried Competition finalists chosen by Juror, Patterson Sims. The chosen works will be on exhibition at First Street Gallery from June 23, 2009 through July 18, 2009. The opening reception for the show is Saturday, June 27th from 3 - 5 PM. The gallery will be closed Friday July 3rd and Saturday July 4th for the national holiday.

The artists come from almost every region of the United States. About the juror:

Patterson Sims is a freelance curator and writer who is Interim President of ICI, Independent Curators International. He was the director of the Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey from 2001-2008. His career as a museum professional includes serving from 1996 to 2001 as Deputy Director for Education and Research Support at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. He was Associate Director for Art and Exhibitions and Curator of Modern Art at the Seattle Art Museum between 1987 and 1996, and was, from 1976 to 1987, the first curator designated to oversee the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Mr. Sims began his career as Assistant Director of O.K. Harris Works of Art, in the then newly-developing art gallery district of Soho, in 1969.
