Press note for Indian paintings exhibition in Jakarta
08 / 14 / 2006

Indian Artists Network is extremely happy to welcome all art lovers to our seventh Indian exhibition in Indonesia, the country that is India’s ‘Natural Friend’ in this part of the world and a reliable Partner in India’s vision of achieving global peace and prosperity.

Indian Artists Network was basically formed to forge alliances with Individuals and organizations in each country around the world for holding International exhibitions of Indian artists every year, in reputed art galleries outside India.

All our artists highly talented and award-winning from all states of India including National/State award winners as well art professors and Gold medallists from various art schools in India.

Globalization is a natural outcome of human thinking and it’s passion for growth. Supported by revolutionary Internet, this process of globalization, it seems, has become irreversible and has all inherent potential to change human relationships,

cultural balances and commercial equations and this may have devastating effect on physical and psychological health of the entire mankind and its environment. Let us hope and work for the better.

Now the question is ‘what is the role of creative artists in this whole process?’ or ‘Is there any role at all?’ or ‘Is there any extra responsibility on those humans who think that they are creative?’ Can we really afford the cost of commercial success at ‘Any Cost’?

Fully getting dissolved into globalization process to reap its benefits and at the same, retaining our separate cultural identity would be the challenge of the future. Is retaining a separate cultural identity really necessary? Even if the answer is ‘Yes’, everything is merging into each other and Cultures are no exceptions. Every culture of each nation is influenced by Global culture that is evolving rapidly. What we absorb from global culture and what we reject will finally decide the future of all Fine Arts and ultimately the culture of each nation. It’s an eternal evolutionary process that will take us to unimaginable destinations.

Cultural interaction between countries has that tremendous power to bring peoples of the nations closer to each other through dialogues and co-operation. Massive People- to- people contact between nations is a Cultural power that has in-built capacity to stop any impending attack on each other. Human lives, cultures and Eternal values that are nurtured over centuries are too
precious to be left in the hands of few politicians alone. Let us help them help us in protecting these human values that have nurtured us as a civilized society until now.

Indonesia’s ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ is absolutely same as India’s very own ’Vividhata mein Ekta’ Ancient Indian Sanskrit phrase of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The whole world is one single family) may remain the guiding principle for all creative artists everywhere around the world. Entire humanity, if it wants to exist, has no choice but to walk on the Divine path of Religious harmony, Universal brotherhood and peaceful co-existence.

Living with dignity is the only fine art in life. Everything else is nothing but the commercial art for survival. If life is an attempt to impart value and meaning to the most ordinary and routine acts of life, then Fine Arts are definitely in the forefront of that Divine attempt. Devastating tragedies will keep on striking and damaging human life and environment as long as there are humans who are ready to sell their souls at a price to gain that illusive glory. If creative artists can’t be a Dignified and Humane force of the society then who else can be?

The turbulent social conflicts will always throw Fine Arts to peripheral insignificant position but it’s real powerful role

is in the times of peace to nurture atmosphere that will prevent entire society from going to those difficult situations of painful conflicts. Chances of survival of Fine Arts are far greater at the times of peace, prosperity and happiness than at the times of violence, hatred and war. Thus it becomes imperative for all creative artists to spread the message of peace and tolerance, at least for it’s own survival.

With this exhibition, let us all commit ourselves to this divine path of Peace, and non-violence shown by Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest human soul and a visionary that ever lived on this earth.
