Published by Graphiti on 2005-11-27

Good news for culture vultures in the city. Aakriti Art Gallery has added one more feathered stroke to the already burgeoning Calcutta artscape. Aakriti, spread over 2,500 sq. ft. of unbroken space, makes its debut with its 2005 collection that takes in over 500 paintings by more than a hundred artists. The works represent a broad spectrum of languages and styles. With its focus on artists both established and upcoming, Aakriti aims to showcase the collective vision and talents of contemporary Indian art in all its myriad manifestations, and in the process emerge as a platform for the promotion of artistic talent from across India. Works from upcoming artists such as Kanchan Dasgupta, Lakshminarayan Patchouri and Suchibrata Deb rub shoulders with the works of veterans such as MF Husain, Jamini Roy, Madhavi Parekh and Sakti Burman.
