Gallery Statement:
The Brunei Art Forum
Founded in 2003 The Brunei Art Forum is a non-profit-making society.
Its objectives are:
To promote the enjoyment, understanding, performance and study of Art within Brunei Darussalam.
To encourage and promote the debate of Artistic Ideas as well as the sharing of Artistic Experiences within Brunei.
To organize for public display and participation Art Exhibitions, Contents, Workshops, and Talks on matters pertinent to Artistic Expression.
To promote the Artistic Works of Members of the Society and Art at a general level within Brunei, providing opportunities for interaction of Artists within Brunei, and interaction between Artists and the Public within Brunei Darussalam.
To acquire the works of Society Members and develop a collection of Art works for examination and exhibition within Brunei.
Art Forum Brunei 2004 - the societys first major event - is a group show of 45 artists from 15 countries at the Art Gallery of the Brunei Museum overlooking the Brunei River. The philosophy of the Forum calls for artists to come together at the venue to exchange experiences and meet fellow artists in the expectation that this will generate greater dynamics in the local Arts scene. Most importantly the Art Forum provides a real platform for the meeting of Bruneian and international artists residing in Brunei Darussalam.

Inauguration: 13 january 2004 at 8 pm.
Duration: 13 Jan. to 30 jan.
Workshops and guided tours in the company of participating artists will be organized throughout the duration of the event.
Entrance is free of charge
