Gallery Statement:
The Art Board was founded in 1979 under Motoomi Eguchi. Born and raised in Sapporo, Japan, Mr. Eguchi went to America following graduation from Nihon, University, accepting an invitation to continue his studies in architecture at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus. Following his entrepreneurial dreams, Motoomi founded his own architectural services firm in 1976. Since then, he has founded and led a number of successful business operations in the United States.
One of those successful businesses is The Art Board which is an art and gift retail store carrying hundreds of lines of products, including posters, art prints, art cards, unique gift items, photo frames, ready-made frames, custom framing service, and numerous other handicrafts and collectibles. Being in successful operation for the past 22 years in Ala Moana Shopping Center at Honolulu, Hawaii, The Art Board has featured over 100 artists. In time, The Art Board has expanded to 5 shops by 1988. Currently, The Art Board has gone online since June 2001.
The beauty of the Hawaiian surroundings has inspired Moto to share memories of Hawaii in the form many forms of art. We hope that you'll find this site enjoyable, memorable and at the same time inspiring for those who love art. You got to have "Heart" and "Art."
