Gallery Statement:
Simon Arts + Crafts saw the light the day when I was born, at least I believe in that. ...

My father, an avid photographer, very quickly carried me in his arms to visit exhibitions and as well as my mother. She taught me the taste of the cultural differences and their scholars mix. Together, we traversed the exhibitions and the museum rooms through Europe. At this time, I collected, postcards reproducing illustrious paintings in voluminous files.

In 1992, during Picasso's exhibition in Grand-Palais in Paris, a small change arose in me. I was in admiration and enthusiast, but my father was not interested. He preferred to converse with the warders on the number of visitors that strolled in for the exhibition. From there on, I wanted to appreciate the perception difference of the art by every individual. I studied the philosophy of the art especially the question of the non-representable.

Today, I launch myself in a new adventure of becoming a young contractor and hope to be able to share my views. With this space, I wish to promote European young artists and craftsmen. France, the place where I was born and where I grew up, Hungary, earth of my origins; land of my roots, Austria where I emigrated and many other countries offer me designers, photographers, jewellers, ceramists etc. with different backgrounds, styles and different aesthetic objectives.

A place of exchange, of cultural mixture and of discovery leads to the light of Vienna; namely Simon Arts + Crafts.

Art affects me. Art feeds me. Art speaks to me.

And you ?

Simon Holpert
