Gallery Statement:
Peter van Geyt established the Van Geyt art gallery shortly after the Second World War. After having spent his youth hiding from the occupying Germans in attics and ditches in the Netherlands, Peter decided to turn his hobby into his profession. The gallery gradually grew in name and began to exhibit famous twentieth century Dutch and Belgian artists such as Wim Oepts, Kees Verwey, Hermanus Berserik, Carel Willink and Paul Delveaux. Many of which became Peter's personal friends over the years. As a result of his long and fruitful career a big range of paintings has found its way into several interesting art collections.
In 1980 his son Michael, joined the company, becoming director a few years later. Through Michael's large range of tastes the Van Geyt's art gallery's spectrum started broadening with additional art from the seventeenth to the twentieth century being added to the collection. The main focus is now on Dutch and Hungarian nineteenth and Twentieth century art. Besides the above mentioned artists we now also show work of Bela Czobel, József Egry, Bela Kadar, Janos Vaszary, Ödön Marffy and
József Rippl Ronai. Currently the collection is presented from London and Budapest. The latter being the place where the business is located. However, we are able to arrange viewings in the Benelux and other European countries as well.
On this website some highlights of our collection are presented, many more art pieces are viewable on www.vangeytfineart.com. Only a part of our collection is online, more art works are available on request. We also advice on the buying and investing in art and we will also buy art, on your request, for your collection.
With more than fifty years of experience we take great care in dealing art and treat buyers respectfully.
