Mission Statement

The Volakis Gallery represents emerging talent and established artists in the fields of photography, painting, sculpture, mixed media and installation work. The primary focus of the gallery is to exhibit artwork that explores the following topics: the ephemeral nature of existence, mysticism, Jungian archetypal imagery, existential humanism, wabi sabi and other esoteric themes. We seek out artists whose physical methodologies directly correlate to the conceptual ideas they are attempting to convey visually. We admire artists that eschew modern technological production methods, preferring to exhibit works that exude a high degree of physical craftsmanship and novelty. In addition to exhibiting contemporary artists, we are committed to exhibiting works by acknowledged masters who we believe have explored the aforementioned themes and to further illuminate their enduring influence on contemporary art.
