  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Doyle Chappell - DOYLE CHAPPELL is a portrait artist who paints in a distinctively contemporary style, creating colorful works that are the antithesis of dull, ancestral-type portraits. From the beginning of his art studies at the University of Texas, Chappell prefered painting people to other subjects. His sensitive depictions reflect those intangible qualities that motivate and define each individual. Admirers of Chappells portraits have observed that his paintings seem to reflect a kind of inner spirit that expresses much more than the surface appearance. He finds all ages to have special beauty. Although he has created numerous oil portraits, he presently works mostly in acrylic on canvas as that medium most suites the spontanious and painterly brushwork and heavy build up of layers of colors, on top of colors. His works are valued by serious art collectors, and his portraits are included in many private collections. Some of his favorite paintings are of "just plain folks". Among the well known subjects Chappell has painted are Lynda Johnson Robb, daughter of President Lyndon Johnson and wife of Virginia Senator Charles Robb, with her children; Senator and Mrs. Warren Magnuson; and actress Daryl Hannah. PROCEDURE Doyle Chappell paints almost exclusively from life, usually completing ...

Susan Bell - It has been my wish to travel and paint the many people and cultures of the world. Raised on a farm in New York until the age of 11, I have seen many aspects of nature. I started out painting landscapes and still life. But my true passion, has been my fascination with people and the human face. I am struck by the innocence and candor of children. My willing subjects have been my grandchildren, much to their delight. There is something about seeing and recognizing your face in a painting. I am drawn to both realistic and abstract expression. It has been a goal in my work to incorporate the two. The many models I have painted have provided inspiration to look for the unique qualities that each of us possesses. It has been recent that I have taken interest in exploring the mystery in the face. Using a building of layers to lend depth and drama has been an exciting process. Committed to learning, my work reflects the wonder I experience daily. My hope is that my work reflects a deeper than skin look into the spirit of the people I do in portraiture. ...

Sanjoy Rakshit - Nature is the almost topmost creators. And change is the nature of low. There changing are going on time to time, with the through every moment of step. Which moment is present, that will be past, after will be began new present time, with the new provisional. That feels need to sixth sense. In live to think, all kind of creativity are impressed with this. In huge moment, feels are lots of together, here ability of catching minimum, and this is depend on which is only in our in previous knowledge. My just as series is, spontaneous reflect of inner feelings & sense, which depend on timing .There can be something reality of present -past. Here appearance may would be supernatural atmosphere. There Lines & color able to reflect their own images , & language. So "Just As" trying to judge and define, the rhythmic flow & harmony of present sense, extraordinarily. THANKS. Rakshit ...

Miguel Cerejido - Artist's Statement The nexus between music and painting and ways of pictorially representing sound and silence, have been the main subjects of my work as an artist since 1980. This exploration has many facets from attempts at a pictorial representation of sound, to the creation of environments (maybe places or landscapes) that result from the sensations, feelings, states of mind and/or visions generated by music. My work has gone through different stages from attempts to illustration of specific musical work to explorations of aspects of the musical structure itself. This is, of course, purely subjective The final phase of production in my work is distinguished by a return to painting, almost forgotten in my eagerness in use it as a medium instead of a purpose, and the utilization of all I've learned through the years about shaping a pictorial - not musical - art work, which held all the spiritual power of music, as an autonomous entity, without moving it away from it's musical sources by means of referent codes, which, I hope, made possible the identification of the theme by the viewer. The resolution of this process continues to evolve as I grow as an artist and ...

Iwona Jankowski - My first works of art I have created as a child depicted horses. Drawing them, I thought I could feel every muscle of the horse I drew. It was far from perfect but the feeling remains. Even today, after many years, my favorite subject is Horses. For me the horse, beside the beautiful gracious body, is a symbol of a free soul, loyalty and trust. Especially Ii?1/2m fascinated by their eyes. An eye, as old people say, is a window to a soul. When you look in their trustful eyes, you can see they want to connect with us and are always as a vivid shadow that needs to be close, to follow and to please, and blindly doni?1/2t expect anything in return i?1/2 just hopes for love and simple friendship for life. Over the past ten years my work has transformed from a semi-realistic, simplified close-ups of my subjects, into a floating, colorful i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 compositions. My Mottled Horses - Equine art developed since 2003-4 in my new i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 style that merges abstract and expressionism with a touch of realism. The subject is created on a colorful abstract background to express feelings, often shown as a close-...

Alain Nicolet - Alain Nicolet was born in 1951. He works on painting since 1977 and had a lot of exhibitions in France Switzerland, USA, etc. His work is like a long way to understand what painting, life, time or memory could mean. This painting asks questions, doesn't show final answers and try to find a way to ask more and more, and better...... Ana Castro Feijoo - My work is essentially a visual development of the relationnships between shapes, colors, line and emotion, with in speecific field, sometimes the symbols reveal themselves spontaneously, my chalenge in their balancein space. It is halfway between abstraction and figuration. I donA't analyze, I donA't coneptualize, rather I build and destroy until I unravel a portrait of the moment. It is my language to express mmy interior, difficult with words. In the paintings I paint layer upon layer, letting it happen and flo, in the engraving especially llately in the monocopie, once the inks have been disseminated I am intereested in exploring the accident that occurs when literally exploding them under the pressure of the press, moment by moment, until the appropriate ones are captured on papeer or canvas. I am a multifaceted artist. I am attracted to the challenges of differrent disciplines. It is an evolution in time, while the work is being created, to the point that I see an abstract representation of something that I had not seen before and I allow the work to have its own presence....

Joanna Glazer - The inner images and bold colours Joanna Ewa Glazer incorporates in her work convey a sense of abundance, total immersion into life and optimism. In her paintings, she creates a space of beauty and paradise in the way that shows resilience and strength regardless of circumstances. Each painting is like a poem , a life affirming experience." All her work is also about sense of identity, search for it and hints as to where to find it She finds her sources in fashion magazines, newspapers, books, art reviews, and advertising.
