Artists Describing Their Art:
Jon Glaser - There is something fulfilling about capturing a moment in time particularly as the sun makes its first or last appearance. My photographic work reflects an affinity for movement and sound; the latter reminiscent of a song, starting calmly, building strength, power and energy, until the shutter releases and the image is recorded as the ultimate crescendo. While I am most drawn to the grand landscape, my portfolio includes macro still life and abstract work as well, showcasing a relationship between color and light. NOTE: All of my photographs have been processed with Photoshop and Lightroom withlittle manipulation or adjustment. All colors are true of their location. In addition, I print all images using the latest technology, the highest-quality papers, and newest archival inks. All photographs include a 5mm white border to ensure proper handling that helps eliminate the potential for fingerprints. ...
Bruno Paolo Benedetti - Bruno Paolo Benedetti, born in the year 1954, began to take pictures, studying perspective and photo techniques, in the year 1968. Since the begin he was concerned with black and white photography, observing the contrast s of the nature, the lights and interpreting the reality around him. When he was 25 he began to work in the dark room, enhancing his technique using filters, high contrast films for making his first pictures of surreal and abstract photography. At the same time he began journeying around Europe and the world: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Southern America, South Africa, Egypt, Comoros islands are some of the most visited places. The study of the religions, the mysticism in all of them, inspired his artistic production, especially his surreal photography, where cultural and religious archetypes are depicted. The abstract non objective photography is the other branch of his work. It starts from the observation of the nature in all its manifestations: water, lights, colors, shores, flowers, ice All the colors are not elaborated and strictly natural, highlighting hidden particulars and changing the images into fluid shapes, where each watcher can see new images created by his emotions and fantasy. In both styles of pictures the ...
Corrie Ancone - Artist statement : "I don't care for the certainty of what's in front of my lens, but the creativity, the fantasy, the invention, that can gush from a thought before or thereafter. Between the certain and the uncertain there is a possible space, as in dreams and fables. Heavily influenced by mythology, nature and the techniques and working styles of the early European Dadaists, Impressionists and Baroque artists, my creativity stems from my lust for finding and exploring sympathies between the human body, the landscape and its textures. Oscillating between transparency and opacity, colours and images collide in my work, creating new visual and emotional images, often painterly and somewhat surreal, which affect perceptions of natural reality. This is sometimes described as 'synthetic realism'." Corrie Ancone ...
Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Thank you very much for your visit. I wish you lots of pleasure on my gallery and my site, at www.amitbar.com! Amit Bar....
Tina West - Statement of the artist My still life photographs are sculptural installations, created environments that give new meaning to objects, as their scale is re-addressed through a new place in space and time. All of my still life's feature found objects, including objects that in some manner find me. Together, you and I make each photograph a story. I begin the story with the photograph, but it is your reactions and experiences that complete it. Certainly, I could finish the story as it relates to me, but I am far more interested in the telling of your own story. The photograph is my vision. The story is yours. As an introduction my camera of chose is a 4x5, I consider it a medium large format. The film of choice is Polaroid 59, there is a look and feel that can be found no other way. Now Fuji instant film, as Polaroid is no longer produced. The photographs are scanned and printed as archival pigmented prints. I am a collector of thing or objects. Sandra Maarhuis - For more information about Sandra Maarhuis and to see a online show of all her artworks visit the website: www.sandra-maarhuis.exto.org Info Paintings and Photocollages: Sandra Maarhuis was born in 1972, in Rotterdam. In 2001 she graduated from the Art Academy of Kampen. It was there that she mastered her painting skills. After graduating, the Dutch Art Institute offered her a place in their Master of Fine Arts course. During this two year course she was taught by Peter Struyken and Emo Verkerk, and she obtained her Master's Degree in 2003. Apart from commissioned works and the sale of her work, her main ambition is to further develop her free artwork. A recurring theme in her visual art is the beauty that is concealed in everyday life. In awe of detail, situation or people. And this admiration is the start of each of her paintings. By painting in a figurative-bordering on realistic-way, she is able to portray the subject as recognizable as possible. The final goal is to let the painting exceed the picture. To be captivated first before realising it's a "picture in a frame". Sandra has a new working space ( atelier) ...
Bernhard Luettmer - The project is to create the image with a short composition as I wanted at times I took in here. Timing and movements of the camera or the machinery are important resources. Photography is listen to the world as we hear a beloved piece of music. For example: I see a tree just in vegetation, the wind gentle caresses the new leaves, the light shines and you hear all this on the skin. Now take a picture with the knowledge that this concentration and on the negative is something of the feeling....
David Hum - Philosophy : Every now & then, amidst our daily lives, we experience moments in time. Peter Beard's quote " the time is always now " rings true for me. The present time is a valuable commodity and much often taken for granted. Photography transcends how the philosophy of art is expressed with such elegance. I capture these decisive moments revealing the pure essence of life. Instants in time, evidence of past. Life is a snapshot away. Capture it and its forever, timeless. Light emits life to all we see, a luminous world essential & pure. My journey, fragments of time & light. David Sun Hum...
