Artist Statement

Check out www.delmawhite.com for more info. I have a passion for unique Western Australian Wildflowers from beautiful gum blossoms to the tiny carnivorous orchids. I paint in oil paints, unlike traditional botanical studies, as I feel the strength of oil paints represents the strong colours of our bush. I do not paint what I cannot study for myself, so I travel to isolated places in search of rare species. I include the plants' natural enviroment This is often the reason some unique orchids are surviving. I also paint in large scale. Some of my subjects are only millimetres high and would be lost if I was to work to scale. ...
