Artist Statement

My name is Alireza Vatan-Iman and I was born on August 29, 1975 in Shiraz, which is one of Iran’s largest cities. At a young age, I began to practice art and design; however, by the age of fifteen I began to take serious lessons. After a while I received my legal art and design license and I started to draw and paint professionally; however, my curious mind went on in search of the meaning of life because I was not satisfied by reality and all the things that are already known to us humans. I learned that behind our real world there lives an unknown universe. Not all of us are aware of this world because our senses are very limited and there are many feelings in life that we are unaware of because we have not yet discovered them. As individuals, we view stimuli or feel the things that we only desire to see or feel. Accordingly, I came to realize that there is a window to our undiscovered senses, especially our visual senses. In fact, at times the pupil of our eye zooms onto these certain stimuli that later gets engraved in our mind and with our previous knowledge we are able to perceive and analyze the new ideas. We are also able to distinguish between the good from the bad. In fact, the good and the bad have different are viewed differently by groups of cultures. Humans are born with different viewpoints. This leads us all to the purpose of life.
Nevertheless, in my artworks, I tend to idealize the eye as the first and only focal point for dreams and fantasies. I have chosen colors that create an abstract design in a way that creates a deep feeling that leads the viewers search for second meanings. I will not give further explanation on my art works. I draw and paint my thoughts and in fact everything you view on my artworks is based on sudden feeling. My art is ambiguous but definitely not out of ordinary because I only begin to pull out the truth meaning of the image that’s being created after I finish painting or drawing. Lastly, I choose materials such as acrylic, markers, drawing pens, and sometimes oil point to create my pieces.
