Artwork Description:

An exploration of the fluidity of stone executed in the Welsh Slate of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The piece of stone selected was ludicrous for a head and so a very elastic and fluid form was required. The form was imposed upon the stone whilst maintaining some of the original character and texture. The finished piece contrasts an extremely high polished finish with the beautiful natural riven texture of Welsh Slate. The piece manages to be contemporary and minimalist whilst holding a timeless tribal air about it. This one-off piece was pure spontaneity in creation
