Artwork Description:
Sensuous abstract sculpture created with a striking redwood root section that has been sculptured and entwined with a prominently twisted redwood root. The root section is derived from the underground portion of a redwood tree and has a serpentine appearance with polished protrusions that embrace its vertical counterpart. Both dynamic wood forms are sensually joined together in a manor that portrays intimate romance. As the sculpture is viewed from different sides, exciting new visual splendors are revealed.
This spectacular Redwood sculpture has been composed with several redwood roots that have been carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further enhance the natural forms. After final preparation, the wood designs are assembled with multiple steel rods. The redwood components have been sprayed with a durable clear oil and hand rubbed, producing a matt finish which reveals all the natural colors and exotic grain patterns. Due to the nature of redwood burls, each sculpture is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. Although it is possible to create similar designs. All of the natural redwood used to create these sculptures has been reclaimed from the underground portions of fallen trees which have been victimized from winter storms, landslides or forest fires, therefor no living trees have been utilized.
